Yesterday I saw my first Burning the Clocks. Unfortunately in 4 years of living in Brighton I’ve never made it to the event before, guess Christmas is a busy time. Burning the Clocks is a modern celebration started only in 1993 and is meant to replace old traditions that were lost in time.
The event started of with a procession around city centre and seafront and ended with spectacular display of burning paper lanterns and fireworks. Most of the lanterns were shaped as a clocks, that apparently represents the passing of time. By the time when fireworks started, after spending an hour in the cold, I felt like an icicle. Even had difficulties pressing buttons on the camera, my hand were so cold. But in the end it was worth it.
